Horse-riding

For horse lovers we suggest:

1 - Horse riding for approximately 1 or 2 hours near Spoleto.

2 - Riding on Mt Acetella from 09:00 to 13:30.

3 - Horse riding (Marmore-Spoleto-Mt-Fiunchi Torre Maggiore) for the whole day with lunch included.

The horse riding center that we recommend has a wide range of horses to satisfy both the beginner and the more experienced rider. For this reason, the beginner can also join expert groups to ride half-day or full-day on a horse suited to him/her needs with a guide to their disposal.

Fishing

The particular characteristics of the river Nera (Black River) greatly encourage fishing for trout, which can be practiced with good results with all the techniques allowed by the Regional Regulation.

Certainly the technique that is more successful is without a doubt fly-fishing. The Black river is the undisputed realm of those who love to fish with dry fly and read code, but is of no less good results for those who prefer the submerged fly or the nymph. In fact, this technique at the beginning of the season usually offers more possibilities of capture.
The stretch of No-Kill in the Black river is a unique environmental space of its kind, offering all that the most demanding fisherman would like: an environment rich in biodiversity, always clear water with constant values, fish population of only trout fario, well structured and able to renovate according to their own biological cycles; The intense activity of macroinvertebrates give rise to all broods all year-round.
To carry out these fishing activities in question, the fishermen must be in possession of the fishing license and obtain the proper permit issued by the Tourist Information Borgo Cerreto after payment.

Rock Climbing

For those who want to learn, the rock-climbing and “free climbing style” school of Ferrentillo is one of the most appreciated in Europe, with six areas for different types and difficulties where you can learn all the techniques of ascension. Prices to be agreed.

Hiking

Within all areas of major interest such as the Sibilini mountains are several kilometers of trails and facilities, designed for different degrees of physical training, from walking to more demanding trekking at high altitude.
From Norcia starts a dense network of routes (some of them maintained by the Italian Alpine Club) that join a network of abbeys rich in history through an evocative and lonely journey. You can take easy paths, such as that of Norcia (600 meters) that reaches Ospedaletto (1000 m) or those more demanding following the “Sentieri Italia” (Trails of Italy), which have as a starting point Norcia or Castelluccio di Norcia.

Sempre da Always starting from Norcia, there are excursions to the “marcite” (meaning the “rots"), the original and permanent irrigation system of the grassland, built according to some people, since the Benedictine Monks’ time. The former railway Spoleto-Norcia along the Black River in the village Cerreto is a path undemanding but an equally valid alternative to those listed above.

Mountain Bike

The roads of Umbria, always with very little traffic, are frequented by an increasing number of cycling enthusiasts eager to experiment with more challenging routes through the mountains. They are also happy to wander around the rolling hills. Inside the National Park of Monti Sibillini there is a mountain bike looping trail that is being built and starts in Norcia. The former railway Spoleto-Norcia, which borders the Black River, is an undemanding alternative suitable to all.
